FAQ

BELOW ARE SOME COMMON QUESTIONS and answers we often get asked – FEEL FREE TO CONTACT SARAH IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER queries
How much notice should I give when ordering my cake?
Ideally it would be great to have at least 1 week notice for orders. However, if you need something last minute, get in touch and we’ll do our best to help you.
How long do your cakes last?
All cakes and sweet treats made from What Sarah Bakes Cakery contain natural, fresh ingredients and no preservatives are added. Therefore they are best eaten the day you receive them.
How should I store a cake that I order?
Most of our cakes and cupcakes are decorated with fresh cream and/or cream cheese so need to be stored in a refrigerator if they will not be eaten within 2 hours of receiving them. Cakes taste best at room temperature, so if refrigerated, leave the cake/cupcakes at room temperature (out of the sun, or hot car) for 1 hour before serving.
Do you deliver? If not, where do we collect our treat/s from?
We are based right in the heart of Nelson, making it easy for you to collect your cake/s, cupcakes and other sweet treats. We do not provide a delivery service except for wedding cakes at this stage, but if you have difficulty collecting your cake, please let us know.
Can you set up my wedding cakes/cupcakes at my wedding venue?
Yes, just let us know if you would like us to when you order (additional charges MAY apply).
Do you cater for special diets and allergies?
Yes. Please let us know when placing your order. You can find the cake that suits you best on our cake menu page. Please note however, that all cakes are made in a kitchen with allergens, making cross-contamination possible – if you have a severe gluten, egg, dairy or nut allergy, please inform us.
What if I need to cancel my order?
We hope that you won’t need to but will be as accommodating as we can. Please be aware that we may have had to turn down another order to take yours, so we may not be able to give you a full refund.
